Core Muscles

It is extremely important that you work your core muscles. So many of us have careers, jobs, and other activities and that can take its toll on our muscles and joints. Spending long hours of typing or using a computer, reading, working under the hood of a car, or standing at a workbench can eventually lead to calcium deposits in the joints which will affect your mobility. Once this calcification process starts there is nothing you can do to reverse it. Now you’re probably wondering just what are my core muscles? Well, there are four areas that make up this core group and they consist of the obliques, abdominals, lower back, and the glutes. When you strengthen this core group you will become physically more powerful, allowing you to improve your balance and stabilize your body every time you work out, engage in any physical activity, or just move.

The best way to work your core muscle groups is every other day. Pick two of the four groups, for example abdominals and lower back, and work those on one day, and then the other two groups the next day. Don’t work the same group two days in a row. If you do, you run the risk of injury to that group, and you won’t be able to effectively work any other group. Alternating and giving each group a day of rest allows them to build and become stronger for the next workout.

To summarize, this is why it is vitally important to condition and strengthen your core muscle groups giving you a more effective workout. Conditioning and strengthening your core muscles will provide you with these great benefits and more if it is done properly.

1. You will improve your posture. This will reduce the risk of low back muscle pain and soreness.

2. It will help tone all the other muscles in your body.

3. You will improve your physical performance.

4. It will lengthen your muscles. This helps avoid unbalanced footing as you get older.

5. Your muscles won’t be aching or sore. When you exercise your core muscle groups it is usually done by stretching, and by virtue of stretching being a slow beneficial exercise, there is no risk of injury.
