Hap Ki Do is an extremely effective martial art due to using a combination of a joint lock and a pressure point application to subdue your opponent or attacker. Hap Ki Do shares a great deal of the same techniques used in the Japanese martial art of Aikido. Many Tae Kwon Do Students learn and practice Hap Ki Do as well. Hap Ki Do means the ‘power of coordination’ and this is manifested in two ways. Most important is the harmony between the mind and the body, and secondly, to be able to function most effectively in a combat situation. Hap Ki Do is often referred to as the martial art of complete self defense. If you decide to learn Hap Ki Do you will learn how to use minimum force to defeat a stronger opponent. One of the great techniques of Hap Ki Do is that you don’t have to be a strong student to execute its moves. In learning Hap Ki Do, you will focus your time and attention on pressure point techniques and joint lock techniques, but it also has a whole suite of extremely powerful sweeps, thrusts, and spin kicks similar to other martial art styles, as well as throwing techniques similar to the Japanese martial art of Judo.
