When you have self limiting beliefs which are always negative, this will always influence your personality, but in a negative way. Just as your positive attributes come from your experience, meaning your past, so do your limiting beliefs. You may or may not know what limiting beliefs you have and trying to identify them can be difficult. We all do it or have done it and many times it is sort of an automated response, it just pops out without even thinking about it.

So the first rule to eliminating any self limiting beliefs is to pay close attention to your mind talk, stop putting yourself down, especially when something doesn’t work out quite the way you wanted it to, and try to keep it positive. Learn to let go of the negative self talk and put downs and learn to let go of those negative experiences from your past. They are absolutely of no benefit to you and will affect your degree of happiness and feeling Zen. Beware of false beliefs, a common one that I hear often is, “oh I don’t have that kind of luck,” or “if it weren’t for bad luck I’d have no luck at all.” That is just another self limiting belief. Take responsibility for your own actions and stop blaming others. Be flexible, yes you need to have plans and goals, but you also need to adapt and change when a particular plan or goal doesn’t work out the way you want it to.

Learn relaxation techniques to free your mind of stress and tension and a great way to do that is through meditation. Do whatever you like to do to relax such as reading, listening to music, or meditating. Be aware of your thoughts, when you experience a negative thought consciously tell your mind to stop and focus on something positive, and that goes for your mind talk also. Learn patience when encountering a difficult situation, and many times the solution will arise, and be persistent in your efforts. Don’t wait for things to happen, when you have a positive dream or inspiration, take action and make it happen.
